Michelle is an award-winning filmmaker, writer and actor based in Toronto.<\/p>\n
Brave Little Army<\/em>, her directorial debut, was made with an all-female crew under her shingle, Black Lab Film Company<\/em>.\u00a0Since premiering at the St. John\u2019s Women\u2019s International Film Festival<\/em> in 2018, Brave Little Army<\/em> has been an official selection of over 30 festivals, including the Canadian Film Festival<\/em>, Fantasia International Film Festival<\/em>, and the Oscar-qualifying Bogota Short Film Festival<\/em>. Brave Little Army<\/em> has won multiple awards, notably Best Short at Voce Spettacolo Film Festival<\/em> (Matera, Italy), a Special Jury Mention at Festival Courts d\u2019un Soir<\/em> (Montreal, Canada), and Jury Awards at both Lady Filmmakers Festival<\/em> (Los Angeles, USA) and Chinh India Kids Festival<\/em> (New Delhi, India).<\/p>\n Michelle’s screenplay for the next film in her trilogy, Brave Rebel Army<\/em>, was a semi-finalist in the 2021 short script competition at Lady Filmmakers Festival<\/em>. As an actor, Michelle has enjoyed lending her voice to countless brands, such as Cadillac, Swarovski, Dove, Keurig, Coppertone, Fisher-Price, Peoples, <\/em>and Jacob\u2019s Creek Wines<\/em>. Favourite on-camera credits include playing Tom Noonan\u2019s muse in Tom Works Nights<\/em>, the starring role of Lisa Fuillerat in the true story of her escape from an abusive husband in Forbidden: Dying for Love<\/em>, and 1950s cannibal housewife Martha in the award-winning Guess Who\u2019s Not Coming to Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner?\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n Michelle is proud to be a voting member of the Canadian Screen Academy<\/em>, and a member of Women in Film & Television Toronto<\/em>. Michelle\u2019s plays have been produced at Summerworks Theatre Festival<\/em>, the New Ideas Festival<\/em> and Toronto Fringe Festival<\/em>. She has been an invited member of the Tarragon Theatre Playwrights Unit<\/em>, and was the recipient of a Theatre Ontario<\/em> playwriting mentorship with the prolific Linda Griffiths.<\/p>\n
